Jan completed her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Virginia Appalachian Tri-College in 1994. In 1999, she completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Program and earned her MSN from Old Dominion University. Jan received the Unsung Hero in Healthcare award from the VA Health Care Foundation in 2006 for her work at the Smyth County Free Clinic. She is a certified Lactation Peer Counselor. She has been providing primary care in Rural Retreat, VA since 2010. Jan is a lifelong resident of Chilhowie. She met & married her husband, Christian Rasnake, while pursuing her nursing degrees. Together, they have a son, Shane and daughter, Gwen. Outside of work, Jan enjoys spending time with her family, camping, & gardening.
